Funchal is the capital city of the Madeira Islands located off the western coast of Portugal, 1000 kilometres south south west of Lisbon.
The city of Funchal is situated in a natural hollow surrounded by hills which rise up to 1200 meters above sea level.
Funchal is located on the south east coast of the island of Madeira.
