Zaragoza, the capital of the Aragón region in northeastern Spain, is strategically located along the Ebro River. Positioned almost equidistant between major Spanish cities, Zaragoza lies approximately 300 km northeast of the capital Madrid, 320 km west of Barcelona, 245 km southeast of Bilbao, and 325 km east of Valladolid. Its central location within Spain makes it an important crossroads for travel and commerce, with strong rail and road connections to the rest of the country. The city is also surrounded by a diverse natural landscape, ranging from the Ebro Valley's fertile plains to the nearby mountainous regions.

The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a grand basilica dedicated to the Virgin of the Pillar, the patron saint of Spain. Its ornate Baroque architecture, impressive domes, and frescoes by Francisco Goya make it a must-see in the city. The present building was mainly constructed between 1681 and 1872.
Aljafería Palace is a magnificent 11th-century Moorish palace, once the main residence of the rulers of the Muslim Taifa of Zaragoza. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed site has Islamic, Mudejar, and also later Gothic influences. Once a royal residence of the Catholic Monarchs (Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon), it now houses the regional parliament of Aragón on lease.
La Seo Cathedral (Catedral del Salvador) is the city's co-cathedral along with the Basílica del Pilar and blends Romanesque, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. Its richly decorated interior and the Tapestry Museum make it well worth a visit.
Puente de Piedra aka 'Bridge of Lions' is an historic stone bridge, dating back originally to the 15th century and reconstructed in the 17th century. It spans the Ebro River with a length of 225 meters.
Plaza del Pilar is the main square of Zaragoza, surrounded by prominent landmarks such as the Basílica del Pilar, La Seo Cathedral, and the city hall. It is a lively gathering place often the venue for various local events.
Goya Museum (Museo Goya - Colección Ibercaja) is dedicated to the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, who was born near Zaragoza. The museum houses an impressive collection of his works. It also features exhibits on other Spanish masters and Goya's famous etchings.
Caesaraugusta Roman Theater Museum (Museo del Teatro de Caesaraugusta) exhibits the city's Roman past. The well-preserved theater dates back to the 1st century AD. The museum offers interactive exhibits and archaeological finds, providing insight into life in ancient Zaragoza.
The Castillo de Sádaba is a well-preserved medieval fortress in the province of Zaragoza, dating back to the 13th century. 90 km to the north of the city, the castle has seven imposing square towers and a strategic hilltop location.
