Tui is a picturesque town located in the northwestern part of Spain, in the province of Pontevedra, in the autonomous community of Galicia. It is situated on the banks of the Miño River, which forms part of the natural border between Spain and Valença in Portugal.

The town was an important Roman settlement known as "Tude" and later became a medieval fortress town. The town's historical center is well-preserved and boasts a wealth of architectural gems, including the Tui Cathedral (Catedral de Santa María) which combines Romanesque and Gothic styles. The cathedral is a significant pilgrimage site on the Camino de Santiago, the pilgrimage route that leads to Santiago de Compostela.

Tui is often a starting point for pilgrims walking the Portuguese Way, one of the main routes of the Camino de Santiago. Many pilgrims pass through Tui on their way to Santiago de Compostela, making the town an important stop on the pilgrimage trail. The town offers services and accommodations for these travelers.

The town celebrates various cultural and religious festivals throughout the year. One of the most significant events is the Fiestas de San Telmo, which takes place in late April or early May and involves processions, music, and traditional Galician festivities.
