Jardim do Bonfim is a pleasant and spacious park in Setúbal a short walk from Setúbal Station.

The park includes trees, large lawns and a cafe/restaurant situated on an artificial lake.

The present park dates back to the 1960's though the open area dates back to the 16th century and the reign of Dom Manuel I.

There are over 400 trees in the park from 40 different species.

Jardim do Bonfim also has a number of modern art installations and a children's playground.

It is directly opposite Estádio do Bonfim and a short walk from the Manueline church, the Igreja de Jesus to the south.

The smaller Parque da Algodeia is another green space close by.

Access

The park is west of Setúbal Station and is less than 15 minutes on foot. Setúbal Station is on both the Fertagus line over the River Tagus and the Sado Line (Linha de Sado) to Barreiro.

The Fertagus Line's northern terminus is at Roma-Areeiro and the next stop is Entrecampos.

The line then heads south west to Sete Rios and Campolide before crossing the Tagus to Pragal. Coina Station further south is another important station on the line with bus connections to the delightful small town of Azeitão.

Buses 602, 610 or 612 all stop close to the park.
