Portugal Buses: Buses in the Algarve
A number of companies operate buses in the Algarve connecting various towns in the region as well as linking to other cities farther afield such as Lisbon and Setubal.
Bus Companies in the Algarve
Rede Expressos is the largest bus company in Portugal with a network covering most of the country including the Algarve.
Eva Transportes is a more regional network focusing largely on the Algarve. Buses operated by Eva also connect Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal with Sevilla in Spain along the southern coast route.
Renex has routes linking Vila Real de Santo Antonio with Faro, Almancil and the Terminal Renex Vale Paraíso outside Albufeira; Loule and Vale Paraíso and Lagos and Vale Paraíso. Renex buses to Lisbon depart from Vale Paraíso, which is some distance north of Albufeira Bus Station.
Frota Azul is a local bus company in the Algarve that provides local Vai e Vem buses in Portimão, Ferragudo and Praia da Rocha and buses to Silves, Lagos, Lagoa, Monchique and São Bartolomeu de Messines.


Local Buses
Many municipalities in the Algarve provide local bus services themselves or in conjunction with private bus companies.
The local Giro bus in Albufeira has five circular routes beginning and ending at the Albufeira bus station in Caliços ideal for getting around the town and the nearby beaches.
Local Proximo buses in Faro radiate out from the bus station near Faro railway station to Faro Airport, Praia de Faro and Gambelas (Universidade do Algarve).
Eva buses run to Estoi (for Ruinas de Milreu), Olhão, Tavira, Monte Gordo and Vila Real de Santo António from Faro bus station.


In Lagos, Onda buses run on nine routes connecting Lagos town including Lagos train station, Lagos bus station (Terminal Rodoviário) and Lagos Marina with its nearby beaches such as Praia da Dona Ana and Meia Praia, outlying villages such as Odiaxere, Burgau, Portelas and Barão de São João (for Lagos Zoo).
Local buses in Tavira connect Tavira bus station with Quatro Águas for the ferry to Ilha de Tavira and Cabanas to the east of town.
