Buses in Albufeira

Albufeira in the Algarve has a fairly comprehensive bus network for getting around the town and the nearby beaches.

Giro Bus

The local Giro bus in Albufeira has five circular routes beginning and ending at the Albufeira bus station in Caliços.

The five Albufeira Giro buses are:

Linha Verde (Green line) - town centre, Caliços Market, Areis de S. João (The Strip), Oura, Montechoro and Santa Eulália.

Linha Azul (Blue Line) - town centre, Caliços Market, Areis de S. João (The Strip), Oura, Montechoro and Santa Eulália.

Linha Vermelha (Red Line) - campsite, Albufeira marina and Caliços Market.

Linha Vermelha 2 (Red Line 2) - campsite, Caliços Market, Areis de S. João.

Linha Laranja (Orange Line) - Albufeira railway station at Ferreiras.

Albufeira buses are small mini buses that take up to 25-30 passengers. The fare for the Giro buses is presently 1.40 Euro or purchase a daily ticket for 4 Euro for unlimited travel on any of the Giro lines.

Giro buses operate from 7 am to 8 pm (October to May) and from 7 am to 10 pm (June to September).

Albufeira Toy Train

Albufeira's toy train normally runs in a circular route from 9 am-11 pm with trains every 20 minutes. In the summer months, namely June, July, August and September trains run 9am to 1am with toy trains every 20 minutes. On August 20 (Albufeira municipal holiday) and New Year's Eve trains run at 20 minute intervals from 9 am-4 pm.

The normal price for adults in presently 2.50 Euros for a maximum of four stops or 4 Euros for a one day pass. Children under 11 and seniors over 65 travel for 2 Euros for the normal fare or 3 Euros for the one-day pass.

Albufeira Bus Station

Albufeira Bus Station has buses to Balaia, Galé, Guia, Olhas de Agua, Praia da Falesia, Rocha Baixinha, Salgados, Santa Eulalia, Vale Verde, Vilamoura, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Portimao as well as buses to Sevilla in Spain.

To reach Albufeira Bus Station you need to take a Giro Bus or a taxi from down town Albufeira.
