Lisbon Airport (Humberto Delgado Airport)
Lisbon Airport aka Humberto Delgado Airport, Portela Airport or Aeroporto de Lisboa - (Tel: 218 413 500; airport code LIS) is Portugal's main airport and most important international transport hub.
Lisbon Airport has scheduled flights to many places around the world and also connects to both Porto airport and Faro airport as well as Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport close to Funchal in Madeira and the islands of the Azores.
Portela Airport is located only 4 km northeast of the center of Lisbon though there are long-term plans to build a new international airport at Alcochete 5 km north of the capital.
Lisbon Airport opened in 1942 and has two terminals. The older Terminal 1 handles international flights and the newer Terminal 2 (which opened in 2007) operates domestic flights to Faro, Porto, Bragança, Vila Real, Madeira and the various islands of the Azores including the hub airport of Ponta Delgada. There is a free shuttle bus between terminals 1 and 2.
Lisbon's airport handled over 13 million passengers in 2007 and is the main base for national carrier TAP as well as Portugalia.

Getting to and from Lisbon Airport
In July 2012, the Red Line of the Lisbon Metro was extended three stations from Oriente to Aeroporto Station at the airport, so that connections from central Lisbon to Lisbon Airport are just twenty minutes. The metro begins at about 6.30 am so if you have an early check-in, you will need to take a taxi.
Three Aerobuses used to run to and from Lisbon Airport. Post-Covid 19, operations have been suspended with doubt they will ever resume operation.
#1 Aerobus runs to the city center and connects to Estação de Entrecampos, Campo Pequeno, Saldanha, Picoas, Marques de Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade, Restauradores and Rossio.
The #1 Aerobus departs Lisbon Airport every 20 minutes daily from 8 am to 9 pm.
The journey takes approximately 30 minutes from the Airport to Rossio and about 35 minutes in the other direction.
#2 Aerobus runs to Cais do Sodre via Areeiro, Alameda D. A. Henriques, Plaça do Chile, Rua de Angola, Igreja dos Anjos, Martim Moniz, Rossio / Plaça da Fiqueira, Praça do Comercio and Cais do Sodre.
The #2 Aerobus departs Lisbon Airport every 20 minutes everyday from 8.10 am to 9.10 pm.
The journey takes approximately 30 minutes from the Airport to Cais do Sodre and about 35 minutes in the other direction.
#3 Aerobus runs from Lisbon Airport to the bus station at Sete Rios (Sete Rios Coach Terminal) from Monday to Friday except public holidays.
