The Câmara Municipal de Braga (Town Hall) in Praça do Município in Braga is one of the city's many fine 18th century buildings.
The granite building is set in a larger square, Praça do Município.
History
The building was designed by Braga-born architect André Soares (1720-1769).
Soares' other work in and around Braga includes the the beautiful Mosteiro de Tibães, Arco Da Porta Nova, the Palácio do Raio, and the Igreja dos Congregados. He also designed the Church of Nosso Senhor dos Santos Passos in nearby Guimarães.
Begun in 1754 Braga's Town Hall was not completed until 1865, long after Soares' death.
