Museu Arte Nova (Art Nouveau Museum), Aveiro
The Museu Arte Nova (Art Nouveau Museum) in Aveiro is a branch of the city's Aveiro Museum.
The museum is the interpretive center of the network of 28 Art Nouveau buildings scattered around the city. The largest concentration of Art Nouveau influenced buildings are congregated in the centre near the main canal, Praça Humberto Delgado, Rua João Mendonça and Rua Barbosa Magalhães.
The museum is housed in the former residence of Mário Pessoa. The design is attributed to Silva Rocha and also Ernesto Korrodi.
The original furnishings have been lost so the museum concentrates on explaining the origins and objections of the Art Noveau movement in Europe during its heyday in the two decades between 1890 and 1910.
The artists and designers of the movement and their work are introduced using wall panels, photographs, posters and various Art Nouveau pieces. These include azulejos, books, clothing, fabrics, glass and metal work.
The museum also includes a popular tea room and garden, an auditorium, a research centre and space for temporary exhibitions.

The museum is virtually next door to the tourist information center (turismo), which is also an Art Nouveau building.
