Images of Portugal: Fonte de São Francisco, Viseu
The Fonte de São Francisco in Viseu near the Porta dos Cavaleiros is a granite fountain actually made up of two structures back to back.
The plain granite side has an image of Saint Francis in the central area and above this the Portuguese royal coat of arms. At the top there is a cross flanked by two decorative motifs. The reverse side of the fountain is an azulejos tile panel, which is arranged as a bench and displays the coat of arms of Viseu at the top.
