Images of Portugal: Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies, Viseu
The Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies in Viseu is a small, octagonal chapel that dates from 1742.
Inside is a 17th century limestone image of the Virgin Mary, a marble altarpiece and figurative azulejos tile panels on the walls.
The building is just in front of the Porta do Soar, one of only two surviving gates in the city walls.
An interesting place to stay nearby is a Portuguese take on a Japanese-style ryokan (traditional inn), the Viseu Ryokan - Hospedaria Japonesa & SPA, which is oppposite the Museu de História da Cidade.
