A view of the historic center of Obidos, Portugal. Obidos is a popular tourist town within east reach of Lisbon. Enjoy the fine views and excellent sea food and wine on offer. The photograph shows the historic Igreja de Santa Maria dating originally from between 1148 and 1185 it is the main church of the town. The medieval church was rebuilt from the late 15th century onwards, with works continuing into the first quarter of the 16th century. Among the buildings from this period that survive to the present day are the bell tower and the chapel of Our Lady of Piety. The building was constructed over several centuries, reflecting the stylistic characteristics of successive periods, featuring Manueline, Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque elements.
