Portugal Images: Sunset at Vila do Conde and the Rio Ave
Portugal is known for its splendid sunsets in the month of March as the weather changes from the chill of winter to the warmth of spring.
The photograph above shows the Rio Ave as it reaches the sea at Vila do Conde. The town is 27 km north of Porto and located at the mouth of the River Ave. The river's source is in the Cabreira Mountain (Serra da Cabreira) in the Minho region. The river flows to the Atlantic through the towns and cities of Guimarães, Vizela, Santo Tirso, Trofa and Vila do Conde.
