Terreiro do Paço Station in Lisbon is on the Linha Azul (Blue Line) of the Lisbon metro (Metropolitano de Lisboa).

The station also connects with the Transtejo & Soflusa ferry port (Terreiro do Paço Ferry Terminal) with frequent ferries across the River Tagus to Barreiro.

Barreiro ferry terminal connects with Barreiro Station on Av. de Sapadores with onward trains on the Sado Line to Setúbal Station and Praça do Quebedo in the city of Setúbal.

History & Facilities

The monumental station descends to a depth of 28 meters and was constructed by architectural firm of Artur Rosa. It opened in 2007.

The station is open from 6.30 am to 1 am daily.

Art in the station includes work by the Portuguese artist João Vieira (1934-2009).

The station is within easy walking distance of Praça do Comércio and the Arco da Rua Augusta. The metro station is right in the tourist heart of Lisbon.

Santa Apolonia is the next station heading east on the metro. Local services run to Gare do Oriente Station on the Azambuja Line for the Parque Das Nações.

There are also trains from here to other destinations including Braga, Coimbra, Porto, Guimarães and Fatima. Express trains to Porto depart from Santa Apolónia Station calling at Gare do Oriente.

Nearby attractions at Santa Apolonia are the Museu Militar and the Museu Nacional do Azulejo.

A good tip for getting around on the Lisbon metro is to purchase a Viva Viagem card. This is a rechargeable electronic card that can be used on Lisbon's metro, buses, ferries, trams and urban trains to and from Sintra and Cascais.
