Vila do Conde is home to Rio Ave, Porto's third club after FC Porto and Boavista. For such a small town the team have performed surprisingly well in recent seasons in both domestic Portuguese soccer and European competition in the Europa League.
Estádio dos Arcos is named after the "arches" of the aqueduct that runs near to the stadium. The compact stadium has a 12,000 capacity but rarely sees attendances of over 2,000 spectators, except for visits by the "Big 3" - Benfica, Sporting and Porto.
The stadium opened in 1984.
Getting to Estádio dos Arcos Stadium
Estádio dos Arcos stadium is north of the city center equidistant from Vila do Conde and Alto de Pega stations on the Porto metro Line B. The latter is more convenient if coming from the resort of Póvoa de Varzim to the north.
