City Hall, Figueira da Foz
The Câmara Municipal in Figueira da Foz dates from 1897 and stands on Avenida Saraiva de Carvalho, the main avenue facing the River Mondego.
The rectangular building with a façade arranged in five sections remains largely unchanged since its completion. The highlight of the interior is the main hall with its ceiling decorated by Ernesto Korrodi. Also of interest are the imposing atrium, the bust of Santos Rocha sculpted by Júlio Vaz Júnior, a low relief representing the mining industry sculpted by Leopoldo de Almeida and also a fine oil painting by João Reis.
City Hall is close to the main bus station and the port.
