Images of Lisbon: Hydrant, Lisbon, Portugal
These bright red hydrants can be seen all over Lisbon. The word for 'firefighter' in Portuguese is 'bombeiro' and derives from the word for 'pump.' Lisbon fire hydrants are painted a standard, vivid red for high visibility against the city's, often white or, patterned backdrop, and to follow traditional, functional design.
