Lisbon Airport

Lisbon Airport aka Portela Airport or Aeroporto de Lisboa - (Tel: 218 413 500; airport code LIS) is Portugal's main airport and most important international transport hub.

Lisbon Airport has scheduled flights to many places around the world and also connects to both Porto airport and Faro airport as well as Fuchal in Madeira and the islands of the Azores.

Portela Airport is located only 4km northeast of the center of Lisbon though there are long-term plans to build a new international airport at Alcochete 50km north of the capital.

Lisbon Airport opened in 1942 and has two terminals. The older Terminal 1 handles international flights and the newer Terminal 2 (which opened in 2007) operates domestic flights to Faro, Porto, Bragança, Vila Real, Madeira and the various islands of the Azores. There is a free shuttle bus between terminals 1 and 2.

Two Aerobuses run to and from Lisbon Airport:

#1 Aerobus runs to the city center and connects to Entrecampos, Campo Pequeno, Av, da Republica, Saldanha, Picoas, Fontes Pereira Melo, Marques de Pombal, Av. da Liberdade, Restauradores, Rossio, Praca do Comercio and Cais do Sodre.

#2 Aerobus runs to the Financial center via Entrecampos, the bus station at Sete Rios, Av Columbano B. Pinheiro, Plaça de Espanha, Av. Jose Malhoa and Av. Jose Malhoa (Sul).
