Estádio das Dragăo (new) - 52,000 capacity.
The Estádio das Dragăo ("Stadium of the Dragon")
is the new home of one of Portugal's top clubs - FC Porto, champions of
Portugal over 20 times and winners of the 2004 Champions League, when
managed by Jose Mourinho, and the 1987 European Cup in a famous 2-1 win
over Bayern Munich.
The US$109m stadium with its spectacular transparent roof - 'the veil'
- was designed by Portuguese architect Manuel Salgado and built on the
site of the old Estádio das Antas ground. Estádio das Dragăo
is part of the 'Sport City' redevelopment project in Porto.
Getting There
Estádio das Dragăo is north-east of Porto
city centre. Match day special STCP buses run to the stadium from the
Rotunda da Boavista (Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque) or Praça
da Liberdade.
Buses 21 and 78 run from the Rotunda or Avenida dos Aliados.

do Bessa Séc. XXI (remodelled) - 30,000 capacity.
The Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI is the home of Porto's
other top club - FC Boavista - champions for the first time in their
history in 2001. The US$46m redevelopment project includes a hotel,
underground parking and a conference centre.
Getting There
Do Bessa is west of the city centre on Avenida da Boavista. Take
buses 3, 19, or 24 from Praça da Liberdade or bus 78 from
Avenida dos Aliados.
